Rufino Arellanes Tamayo (August 26, 1899 - June 24, 1991) was a Mexican painter. In Zapotec, Tamayo was born the city of Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico, died in the capital of the country. In his work, Tamayo expressed his own concept of traditional Mexico, never siguila other current contemporary Mexican painters whose works were loaded POLITICAL message (JosClemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, and example). L Read Remba and created a new type of printed artwork called mixograph, artistic works that are printed on paper which adds depth and texture to them. One of his most famous mixograph is "Two Characters Attacked by Dogs." His paintings and mixograph have been exhibited in museums such as The Philips Collection in Washington, DC and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, USA. In Mexico City, the museum that bears his name explains much of his work. He was Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Manila, in 1974, from UNAM in 1979, by Berkeley, in 1982, and the Veracruzana, 1991.
